Beyond Nine Waves: What a life in the shadows can teach us.
The Storytellers Residency at Moore and Moore Cafe, brings the art of traditional oral storytelling to a contemporary audience. During the evening you will experience a story or two, share a drink and some food in a convivial setting.
Traditional Oral Storytelling is not a memorised narrative but a live retelling, no two tellings of a story will look the same, told not purely for entertainment traditional tales are the wisdom carriers of nature and culture.
This month storyteller Will Wilson will tale a raucous performance retelling of Tristian and Isolde, accompanied on the Harp by Lilly Felski and in voice by Lucy Risdale.
This ancient tale reaches far beyond its surface as love story into what it means to cross boundaries in pursuit of longing and how naivety can land us in all sorts of trouble. This story shows us what lies behind love as we reach back to the epoch of the pagans and how confusing it can be when a counter culture starts to emerge both internally and externally.
About the teller:
Will has been apprenticed to the old stories, done his bidding in both telling stories and the study of mythopoetics, a graduate of MA Poetics of Imagination and West Country School of Myth Will’s tellings are laced with nuggets of wisdom and humour.
The Details:
