The Scent of Home: What does it mean to journey and can you ever return home?
Oral Storytelling at Moore and Moore Cafe
Welcome to The Scent of Home our third edition of the Storytellers Residency, bringing the art of traditional oral storytelling to a contemporary audience.
In residency this month we welcome our first interstate storyteller, Sim Ayres joining Denmark teller Jeff Atkinson. They have told stories across the country at events, pubs and festivals, you can expect a grounded and rustic telling..... we will end up in wild places with these two.

The Story:
The Odyessy: The classic greek myth told in a way that will have you longing for and fearing boats for evermore.
"There are few tales worth remembering that don't have uncertainty woven into them. Without uncertainty we have mission statements not myth. We have polemic not poetry, sign not symbol." Dr Martin Shaw
The old myths hold us in the capability to be present to the unknown, not to distract or push it away but welcome it as our partner in life. This story is the embodiment of what it means to live in the unknown, as it asks us to assess the notion of home and return...... sound familiar?
About the Storytellers:
Jeff Atkinson: Has performed this art around the country, his underlying knowledge of the mythopoetic landscape flows down into his telling. His poetic language steeped in wisdom will lead you to some wild places.
Sim Ayres: Visual artist, writer and storyteller using art and language to explore the edges of the world. Sim as the ability to articulate the depths of connection to the natural world. You will walk out of a story with a new lens of perception to the world around you.
Food and Drinks: The wonderful Moore and Moore cafe is opening its doors to us for these events, their team will be on hand to serve drinks from their small bar, coffee and cakes (a wonderful interval treat), and dinner will be available to pre order for before the performance or during the interval.
